GREAT NEWS! A brighter future for bus travel in the South of Shrewsbury could be on its way. Now that we have saved the threat to the number 20 bus until at least March 2025

we look forward to having our say on how to improve the bus services in the south of Shrewsbury.

Among the suggestions that were put forward were:-

  1. Creating a new circular bus service that could link to at least the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Radbrook and Meole Brace retail park.
  2. Improving our current routes into Town and avoid duplication of services.
  3. Improving the regularity of buses.
  4. Extending the times of buses into the evening.
  5. Introducing a bus service into town on Sundays.
  6. Encouraging people of all ages to use the buses.
  7. Save people using their cars, reducing congestion and avoiding air pollution.
  8. To link out of Town venues such as shops, surgeries, recreational establishments and cafes to the residents.

Small working groups can be arranged in order to draw up plans and ideas that could be put forward at two meetings to be held in January, one at the Radbrook Community Centre and one at the Trinity Centre. If you would like to be in one those groups then please let me know with any ideas you may have. to :-

Treasurer Needed – Can you help?

This is not a difficult or a time consuming task. The vast majority of the work is done by a payroll officer and the booking Secretary. Virtually all transactions are made by bank transfers and the accounts for the A.G.M. are also done by the payroll officer. If you are interested in helping us or would like to know a little more about what is involved please contact Chris Burge 01743 364721 or Keith Moore 07527 617670.

New curtains and rails in the Main Hall.

The old curtains have been up for 18 years so the Trustees have decided to install new curtains that will be slightly shorter than the previous ones that been up since the Community  Centre opened. We hope you like our choice.

Thank you our caretaker, Debbie who has donated a small Christmas tree that she has planted outside the meeting room and can be easily seen from the road.

We are also planting a rhododendrum tree.

The cost of hiring the Community Centre for regular users will increase by £2 an hour in January. This is the first increase we have had since we opened the Community Centre in 2005.

We are still very competitively priced and we are very heavily booked.
